Meant to Bead is a full-service bead store that came into existence because I fell in love with a beaded bracelet I saw in a local art gallery. Trying to learn how it had been made, I did an on-line search on the word “beads” and a whole world opened up. I found information on various beading stitches and ordered beads, but I found it a continuing source of frustration that there was no place in the area where I could see the beads to try out color combinations and textures before I bought them. I also spent most of a day searching for someplace to buy a beading needle after I broke one in the middle of a project. |
![]() I had been dreaming for some time about having my own business and it occurred to me that I might not be alone in wanting a bead store in this area. I found there were indeed other beaders in the area and they were very supportive of my idea, so I took the plunge, quit my day job, and the rest, as they say, is history. |
Our inventory includes all the major categories of glass beads, semi-precious stone, wood, ceramic, metal, etc. as well as findings, books, tools, and stringing materials including wire. Our staff is trained to help beginners with single strand beading, but our worktables are available on a “first-come, first-served” basis so it may be more difficult to get a seat there on the weekend when the store can become crowded. For individualized attention or instruction in more complicated beading techniques, we offer a wide range of classes. I hope you will be able to visit us soon. Julia Robertson
